Buying GTA 6 for Xbox in Ukraine is harder than for PS5.
What about the Ukrainian Xbox Store?
GTA VI is not on sale in the Ukrainian Xbox Store: there is no hryvnia price or buy button.
On 7 November, the game’s page on the Ukrainian Xbox site returned “not found”. That the game is not on sale is our reading of the store data, not a statement from Microsoft.
The store itself works: Microsoft games such as Forza Horizon 5 are sold there in hryvnias. But some games from other publishers, Cyberpunk 2077 for one, cannot be bought there either.
A boxed code for Xbox
The physical version is a code in a box with no disc. It is on sale from 12 November, Standard Edition only.
PS5 codes are tied to the account’s region, and Rockstar places Ukraine in its Rest of EMEA and Asia group. Xbox codes are not region-locked.
It is not confirmed whether an Xbox code will work on an account set to Ukraine: the game is not in the Ukrainian store.
If you plan to buy an Xbox code, ask the seller about returns first. We don’t recommend changing your account region. More on the boxed version is on the where to buy GTA 6 page.
Series X or Series S?
Launch platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The Xbox Store labels the game Optimized for Xbox Series X|S.
On Xbox Series it needs up to 212 GB: Rockstar says it depends on your device and gives no separate figures for Series X and Series S.
According to Brazil’s Flow Games, Rob Nelson of Rockstar North told its creator Davy Jones that during development the game runs at 30fps on consoles. Whether a 60fps mode comes at launch or later, Nelson said, is for the technical team to confirm.
ReportedKotaku
Rockstar has said nothing about the frame rate on Series S in particular. What is known about FPS on consoles is collected on the FPS and PS5 Pro page.
Pre-load and launch
Pre-load is open from 10 November: from local midnight on PS5 and from 02:00 Kyiv time on Xbox.
On Xbox, automatic pre-load needs automatic updates turned on and the console powered on or in Sleep mode.
| Event | Kyiv time |
|---|---|
| Pre-load on Xbox | 10 November, 02:00 |
| Launch in Ukraine | no time listed |
| Launch in the Polish store | 19 November, 01:00 |
| Launch in the US store | 19 November, 07:00 |
On Xbox, Rockstar promises a local-midnight launch, but no specific time is listed for Ukraine.
Microsoft sets the launch time for each store separately, and the table shows examples from its catalogue. In each of these stores it is midnight local time, which is why the Kyiv times differ. There is no time for Ukraine, because the game is not in the Ukrainian store. The PS5 release date and launch time are on the GTA 6 release date page.
Xbox bonuses
Pre-order or buy by 19 November to get the Vintage Vice City Pack: a ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. For boxed codes the pack is available while supplies last.
Digital pre-orders also include one month of GTA+. On PS5 it must be activated by 31 March 2027. After that month the subscription renews automatically at the usual price until you cancel.
On Xbox the GTA+ month must be activated within 180 days, through Offers & credits. A boxed code does not include it: the month comes only with a digital purchase.
On Xbox the Ultimate Edition upgrade costs $20 in the US store. The Ukrainian Xbox Store does not have it, just as it does not have the game.
How the editions differ is covered on the GTA 6 editions and pre-orders page.
Xbox One and the cloud
No versions have been announced for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or phones.
UnknownRockstar: pre-load
The cloud is no PC substitute: Xbox strategy chief Matthew Ball wrote that GTA VI will not stream to PC at launch.
Microsoft has not said whether the game will stream to other devices.
What is still unknown
- Whether a boxed code activates on an account set to Ukraine.
- What time the game unlocks on Xbox in Ukraine.
- Whether GTA 6 will appear in the Ukrainian Xbox Store.
If any of this becomes clear, we’ll add it here.
