Rockstar has brought the pre-load forward by two days. The release date has not changed: 19 November.
What changed
Pre-load is open from 10 November: from local midnight on PS5 and from 02:00 Kyiv time on Xbox.
The old date was 12 November. Older articles may still repeat it, but it no longer applies. 12 November stays on the calendar for a different reason: boxed codes go on sale that day.
The physical version is a code in a box with no disc. It is on sale from 12 November, Standard Edition only.
How much space to clear
On PS5 the game needs 212 GB of free space.
On Xbox Series it needs up to 212 GB: Rockstar says it depends on your device and gives no separate figures for Series X and Series S.
| Platform | Space | Pre-load | Launch in Ukraine |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | 212 GB | 10 November, local midnight | 19 November, 00:00 Kyiv time |
| Xbox Series X|S | up to 212 GB | 10 November, 02:00 Kyiv time | no time listed for Ukraine |
Rockstar gives no download time, so here is the plain arithmetic. At a steady 100 Mbit/s, the 212 GB on PS5 takes almost 5 hours; at 50 Mbit/s, more than 9. That is our own sum for ideal conditions, and in practice it will take longer.
Launch Trailer15 October 2026Let the console do the waiting
For PS5 to download the game by itself, Sony says to tick auto-download in the game’s countdown timer in advance (Game Library > Your Collection), turn on Stay Connected to the Internet for rest mode and put the console into rest mode. The PS Store also requires Automatic Login and Auto Sign-In to be enabled.
On Xbox, automatic pre-load needs automatic updates turned on and the console powered on or in Sleep mode.
Before the download starts
A PS Store pre-order can be cancelled for a refund only until the download begins, pre-load included. Once it has begun, you get your money back only if the product is faulty.
If you’re still undecided, keep an eye on your console’s automatic downloads: the pre-load can start by itself.
Can you play any earlier?
No. Pre-load only copies the files to your console, and the game unlocks on 19 November.
PS5 launch in Ukraine: 00:00 Kyiv time on 19 November.
On Xbox, Rockstar promises a local-midnight launch, but no specific time is listed for Ukraine.
Everything on space and downloads is in the size and pre-load guide, and your to-do list is in the pre-launch checklist.
